A UPS plane crash in Kentucky has left seven people dead. The incident, which occurred shortly after take-off from UPS’s main US hub at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, involved a McDonnell Douglas MD-11.

The BBC reported that a further 11 people had been injured and that the “death toll could rise”.

It is the seventh such incident involving air travel in the US this year; for freighter operations, it follows Emirates SkyCargo Flight 9788 – a B747 that came off the runway at Hong Kong International.

UPS said delivery times may be affected, but it had contingency plans to mitigate the impact on supply chains.
