The future role for DB Schenker CEO Jochen Thewes has finally been announced: he’s off to run AD Ports Group’s Logistics Cluster.
AD Ports said the appointment proved its focus on propelling its Logistics Cluster, developed through Noatum Logistics, “into the ranks of the world’s leading logistics providers”.
Beginning 1 December, Mr Thewes, whose next job had been highly anticipated after he declined a board offer from DSV, said he was looking forward to it.
In a social media post, Mr Thewes said: “Our vision and ambition is to use the existing Noatum business as a base to develop and build a global leading provider of supply chain services. I am very exited about this opportunity and I look forward to working with the team on delivering on this ambition. Stay tuned.”
Mr Thewes served as CEO and chairman of DB Schenker for about a decade, playing an instrumental role in the company’s sale in April to DSV, after a stint as regional CEO. He also spent 13 years at Kuehne + Nagel, ultimately becoming its president for Brazil.
Capt Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, MD and group CEO of AD Ports Group, said: “The appointment of Jochen Thewes, a distinguished global industry leader reflects our ambition to build a world-class global logistics portfolio. Under Jochen’s leadership, we will accelerate the transformation of our logistics business, fully leveraging the synergistic strength of the group’s business cluster ecosystem to deliver enhanced value to our partners and shareholders.”
Mr Thewes added: “I am excited to embark on this transformative journey with AD Ports Group, with the ambition of positioning the company amongst leading global logistics players, anchored by the strong core business represented today by Noatum Logistics. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues across the group to unlock our full potential and scale our operations globally, delivering exceptional value for our customers and the markets we serve.”
