In perhaps the most significant news of the day, the port of Southampton will close at 7pm on Sunday, until midnight, for an impromptu five-hour worker vacation, the first of its kind.
A Port of Southampton advisory said it was “to celebrate and support both our country’s historical position in the UEFA Euro 2020 final and our staff’s hard work and commitment through the last 18 months”.
It added: “Therefore, VBS bookings for Sunday night have been withdrawn. Operations will resume as normal from Monday 12th July 00:01 onwards.
