Approaching peak season, the port of Los Angeles has something to be pleased about after recording its busiest July in its history. Container volumes were up 16% year-on-year. Executive director Gene Seroka was quoted in Hellenic Shipping News as acknowledging the decision by the Pacific Maritime Association and the “good men and women” of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union to extend their contract with terminal operators until 2022.
