The container shipping industry is dominated by three global players from Europe: MSC, Mærsk, and CMA CGM. On the surface, they appear interchangeable – massive fleets, global coverage, and unrivalled influence over trade lanes.

In reality, they are shaped by very different cultures, ownership models, and historical experiences.
