Mexico drives North American auto investment and challenges China

There is a new kid on the block in automotive production– Mexico. The industry is about to spend some $10bn on building factories there, with Japanese and German companies leading the way. The country’s cost advantage and proximity to the large US market make it a key production region – and those factors outweigh concerns about security and a greater need for a trained workforce.
