With two new port development projects given the go-ahead in as many weeks, the Greater Mekong Delta region of Vietnam is set for a significant expansion in container terminal capacity.

Last week, CMA CGM launched the Gemalink container terminal expansion project in the deepwater Cai Mep-Thi-Vai region, at the mouth of the Mekong, which will result in capacity at the terminal almost doubling, from 1.7m teu to around 3m teu, by 2027.
