Lufthansa Group reported third-quarter net profit of €1.42bn, up 79%, but its cargo arm continues to suffer and saw nine-month revenues decline 15.9%, leaving an operating loss of €69m. Signs leading to a good fourth quarter, as CargoForwarder points out, will not be enough to significantly bolster its full-year figures. The carrier will ground one MD-11F after Christmas, it said. To add insult to injury, just as LH released its results, Fraport announced that Ryanair is bringing its aggressive low-cost model right into the heart of Lufthansa territory.
