In a deal bigger than XPO’s acquisition of Con-way, Knight Transportation is set to merge with Swift Transportation, creating the industry’s largest full truckload company, with annual revenues of more than $5bn. Set to be called Knight-Swift Transportation after the merger, the all-stock deal will need regulatory approval. Swift’s CEO and CFO have said they would leave following the closure of the transaction.
