Even simple objects are a reminder of supply chain complexity

The people who put this together deserve a round of applause. The Journey of Jeans shows how an infographic is properly done, following the supply chain that turns a cotton bale to a denim product in a high street store. Some of the numbers, frankly, seem almost unbelievable but ring strangely true, while perhaps the most interesting thing is, as the author recognises, it really only scratches the surface. “When looked at in detail, and believe me you can keep going down the rabbit hole, it seems unfathomable that a product ever winds up on a store shelf.”
