Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech is appointed new Board Member Products & Sales of Lufthansa Cargo AG. This means the Supervisory Board of the cargo airline has opted for an internal Lufthansa candidate to succeed Dr Andreas Otto. Von Hoensbroech is currently “Head of Commercial Frankfurt” for Lufthansa Passage and responsible for network management, revenue management and commercial business management at the airline’s biggest hub. The 44-year-old manager will take on his new position as of 1 December. Dr Andreas Otto had headed up the Product & Sales division for more than 14 years and was appointed chief commercial officer of Austrian Airlines AG on 1 October.
“I am very pleased that this key position on the board of Lufthansa Cargo will be taken over by Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech, an experienced, skilled manager from our own ranks”, emphasised Harry Hohmeister, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Lufthansa Cargo AG. “With his extensive expertise in airline management, he will play a decisive role in shaping the future of Lufthansa Cargo in a challenging market climate.”
As well as global sales, as a Board Member of Lufthansa Cargo, Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech will also be responsible for product management, margin management, network planning & sales steering, platform management for Austrian Airlines and the strategic eCargo project.
Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech studied physics at the University of Bonn before obtaining a doctorate in an astrophysics-related subject at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. Between 1999 and 2005, he worked at management consultancy company The Boston Consulting Group in Munich and Tokyo, most recently as a Project Manager. His customers were primarily from the airline industry. In 2005, Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech moved to Lufthansa, taking on responsibility for the Strategy & Subsidiaries division of Lufthansa Passage. In 2009, he was named “Project Manager for Airline Integration Management”, where he was responsible for the integration of various airlines, such as Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, into the Lufthansa Group. Since July 2010, the Manager has been “Head of Commercial Frankfurt” for Lufthansa Passage.
