Top former Turkish Cargo executive Cor de Man is set to take over as CEO of up-and-coming airport Maastricht (MST) in February.

Dr de Man left Turkish Cargo, where he was SVP cargo sales, last year and has since been advising Global GSA Group, while also undertaking academic studies into AI.

He will take over from interim CEO Jan Eerkens, who has been in the role since 1 November , replacing Joost Meijs, who has become CEO of Dutch air traffic control.

A veteran of DSV and UTi, Dr de Man brings experience from freight forwarding into his new role.

“The coming years are crucial for the further development of Maastricht Aachen Airport; the foundation has been laid, cargo is showing an upward trend, and the team is focused on the right priorities,” he said.

“Together with the team, I am eager to take the next steps. Maastricht Aachen Airport has great potential for both passengers and cargo, and I look forward to working with employees, shareholders, and partners to build a future-proof, financially healthy, and sustainably operating airport.”

MST, 40% owned by Schiphol Group, is the second-largest air hub in the Netherlands and has looked to attract cargo. Unlike its larger sister Schiphol, it has no slot restrictions. It is IATA-CEIV Pharma-certified, and has MRO facilities. For the first eight months of 2025, the airport reported a 25% increase in cargo volumes year on year, driven by new services from airlines including Turkish Cargo, My Freighter, Ethiopian Cargo, and Avianca Cargo.

“Cor de Man is an experienced executive with a strong commercial profile and in-depth knowledge of both passenger and cargo operations,” said Frans Weekers, chair of the supervisory board of the airport’s holding company.

“He will work closely with the management team to further strengthen operational performance, drive sustainable growth, and position MST as an environmentally conscious regional airport with international significance for both passengers and cargo.

“He brings proven international experience, strategic acumen, and an extensive network in aviation – we have full confidence that he will lead MST with energy and vision into the next phase of its development.”
