Amazon is under investigation by antitrust authorities in the US. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is looking into whether the e-tailer is using its market power to hurt competition, reports Bloomberg, in an interesting article.
Small business are being asked how much of their business they conduct on other platforms, such as eBay, in an effort to find out whether they really do have alternatives, as Amazon claims. Amazon’s market share in online shopping is almost 40% in the US and the FTC wants to determine how much power that gives it over its suppliers. Amazon has been accused of raising fees, forcing its sellers to raise theirs.
