K Line has reshuffled its executive pack, appointing chief executive Eizo Murakami (pictured) as its new chairman.
Additionally Yukikazu Myochin steps up as president and takes over as chief executive, while current chairman Jiro Asakura switches to director.
All three appointments take effect from the start of April as 2019 marks the carrier’s centenary.
Mr Myochin started his career with the Japanese line in the mid 1980s and has held a number of management roles. In 2010, he was appointed general manager of containerships, a year later becoming executive officer. In 2016 he was promoted to managing executive officer, before taking over as director.
Last year he stepped into his present dual role position as representative director and senior managing executive officer.
A statement from the company said: “While having its 100th anniversary in April 2019, K Line has developed its business foundation for the future under the current management to rebuild a stable earnings structure, including the establishment of the integrated containership company.
“Therefore, we have decided these changes solidify the foundation under the new management by undergoing a rejuvenation with its 100th anniversary.”
