Good news for both Tiaca and Kenya. The country’s airport authority (KAA) is adopting Tiaca’s Cargo Service Quality tool. KAA told Daily Nation that the airport already had a quality assessment for passengers, but wanted something similar in cargo – which is being offered by Tiaca.
“We wanted to gauge how cargo is handled, and how you measure the services given,” said Evans Michoma, acting commercial manager KAA.
KAA added that it had faced criticism over poor quality service at transit sheds, and wanted to streamline operations at the five sheds under its management, namely Kenya Airfreight Handling, Africa Cargo Handling, Swissport, Siginon Freight and Trans Global Cargo Centre.
In other news from Kenya, the Civil Aviation Authority is investigating three local airlines for carrying shipments of the stimulant khat on passenger aircraft, not freighters. The regulator said earlier this year that khat could only be carried as maindeck cargo – but some airlines on the Nairobi-Somali route had continued to carry it on passenger aircraft, reports The East African.
