Contract negotiations continue at UPS, and it seems that a two-tiered wage structure is on the table. The Wall Street Journal reports that the move is designed to allow UPS to hire lower-paid workers to cater to surging e-commerce volumes and the demand for weekend deliveries. Basically, such a system would allow the delivery company to sidestep costly overtime rates. A Teamsters spokesperson admitted the proposal was being considered within wider negotiations but said no agreement had been reached.
