China may not have been first to talk about it, but is expecting to see the first examples of widespread delivery by drone.
Ecommerce platforms Alibaba and JD.com, as well as growing courier SF Express, have all announced plans for major drone trials. JD.com is testing a drone which can carry 200kg, and has already flown drones 800 times, across 4,000km in Xi’an in June and July. SF Express, meanwhile, has received the country’s first drone airspace licence. China’s Global Times reports.
