Another day, another raid. This time in South Africa, where the competition commission is holding a “seize and search” operation at the domestic operations of Hamburg Sud, Maersk, Safmarine, MSC, Pacific International Line and CMA CGM. The authority claimed it had “reasonable grounds” to suspect the six of colluding to fix rates. Documents and data have been seized, although Maersk was quick to say that the raid does not mean that the line did engage in anti-competitive behaviour.
