UPS's head of Turkey, Burak Kiliç, promoted to GM in France

UPS has promoted its previous head of Turkey, Burak Kiliç (above), as its new general manager of UPS France.

“One of my key priorities in this new role will be to create a stronger link between France and the world by promoting the growth of exports,” Mr Kiliç said.

As director of UPS Turkey, Kilic oversaw a multi-year investment plan, doubling operational capacity and launching a direct flight line between Istanbul and UPS’s European air hub in Cologne.

He also played a leading role in implementing the UPS women delivery driver programme to hire 8,000 minority-led SMEs in the country.

A Turkish national, he joined UPS in 2009 after its acquisition of Unsped-UPS ASC in Turkey, where he was supervisor of systems development. After being promoted to head of industrial engineering in 2010, he was subsequently named director of operations of Turkey in 2014, In September 2016, he took on a new role as director of industrial engineering of the eastern district. He was promoted to country manager of UPS Turkey in April 2018.

His appointment in France coincides with UPS opening its 3,000sq-metre building at Lyon Saint Exupéry, establishing the airport as a strategic hub for international markets.

The €12m investment complements the international road platform and the delivery centre in Lyon Jonage, and can sort up to 3,000 packages an hour – more than double the capacity of the previous installation.
