Norwegian shortsea container shipping firm Viasea has opened its first UK office, in Immingham, and appointed shortsea veteran Andrew Ellis (pictured above) as its UK country manager.
The company said the move was due to “demand for more capacity between UK and Norway and a need for moving more traffic off the roads”.
Viasea MD Morten Pettersen added: “We are very proud to extend our services further , now opening our own office and company in the UK. This will enable us to take good care of our existing customers, and also build for more business in the UK.”
Mr Ellis was most recently the UK country manager for shortsea and feeder operator Unifeeder. That was preceded by a seven-year stint as MD of Tschudi Logistics in the UK and 13 years as operations manager of DFDS’s shortsea operator, Lys Line.
