The world’s second-largest shipping line MSC has confirmed that former Maersk chief operating officer Soren Toft is to be its new chief executive.
The announcement yesterday confirmed widespread rumours that Mr Toft was leaving Maersk to join one of its largest rivals – although also of course its 2M partner.
It also indicates a step-change at the family-controlled firm, with current CEO Diego Aponte becoming president while founder Gianluigi Aponte stays as chairman.
