A new trend towards cargo alliances could be sparked following yesterday’s news that Lufthansa Cargo and ANA received antitrust immunity for a joint venture. LH Cargo is expected to announce more JVs in the coming year, although it is keeping thoughts about its potential partners close to its chest. The deal with ANA, to be signed this month, allows for the two carriers to jointly manage activities including network planning, pricing, sales and handling, on all routes served between Japan and Europe.
