Cargolux has appointed Janet Jiang as its new regional manager for China, a significant position as the carrier puts increasing focus on its Chinese operations.
Ms Jiang has been at the carrier for 16 years, starting as sales and reservations manager in Shanghai. After several promotions, she became regional manager central and eastern China in 2014. Ms Jiang now takes on responsibility for Beijing, Xiamen, as well as Shanghai and Zhengzhou. She will also be in charge of all new developments in China.
Cargolux is currently setting up its subsidiary, Cargolux China, together with shareholder HNCA. While it is putting increasing amounts of capacity into the Chinese market, rivals say it now has less focus on other routes, which is creating opportunities in the market.
Over the past few years, as it sought a new shareholder and pledged to boost its Chinese operations following HNCA’s investment, Cargolux has witnessed the loss of many key executives. Customers have told The Loadstar that they believe quality at the all-cargo carrier has declined as a result.
