Air freight must improve if it is to charge “luxury” pricing, shippers said last week at the World Cargo Symposium in Berlin. But forwarders hit back, accusing end customers of squeezing the industry on price and preventing further investment.

    Other than getting some new software every once in a while, there isn’t any innovation in forwarding. This has created an industry with zero barriers to entry where there are lots of players pushing down rates, squeezing margins and leaving not much left to invest in innovation other than to get some more new software every once in a while.
