Speculation over the future of Finnair Cargo’s lessor, Nordic Global Airlines, has ended with an announcement that the company is to cease operations at the end of the month. Its fleet of four MD-11Fs will be transferred to sister company Western Global Airlines, which operates between Miami and South America. Finnair Cargo, which owns 40% of NGA, announced at the end of last year that it was ending its MD-11F operations owing to overcapacity in the market. NGA’s other shareholders include Western Global Airlines founder and CEO Jim Neff, who previously founded and owned Southern Air before selling it in 2007.
