Anyone who wanted to emulate Loadstar editor Gavin van Marle’s round-the-world trip recounted in (WARNING: shameless plug follows) Around the World in Freighty Ways could find worse ways to start than by booking a passage on the Aranui 5, a new container-cruise (should that be a con-cruise?) hybrid vessel. And while Mr van Marle spent much of his time mooching around dirty ports in the northern hemisphere, the Aranui 5’s maiden voyage is the decidedly more exotic route from Tahiti to the Marquesas Islands.
