Shipping disruption and e-commerce demand driving up airfreight rates
The start of the airline summer season this month is likely to hit airfreight rates ...
Cargo iQ, the air freight quality standards organisation, has released its figures for May. You may not be aware of this report, but it can be interesting to see who is involved, and how they are doing. It reports average journey time – which is in fact less than the six days commonly quoted. Among Cargo iQ members, the average airport-to-airport journey time is 44 hours, while door-to-door it is 132.5 hours, or five and a half days. It also shows that the level of booking quality and accuracy of electronic data is pretty low, at 44%, and shows which forwarders have done best, while also measuring airline’ on-time availability. Worth a quick look, if only to see how your competitors or partners might be faring.
