Here’s a cautionary tale for warehouse managers and the need for training operatives. An unsupervised contract employee at cosmetic manufacturer Whitman Laboratories was tasked with loading a consignment of jerrycans containing dangerous chemicals onto a truck operated by its logistics provider – in this case Allport Cargo Services. But the units were not adequately secured and leaked corrosive chemicals for 12 miles along UK roads. Both parties have been fined.
