The likelihood of a merger between UPS and TNT looks increasingly remote. Last week European Competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia said that UPS could face difficulties in finding sufficient concessions. The European Commission wants at least three competitors in this field, and is asking for UPS to sell more assets.
On another note, TNT Express is trying to stop its former CEO, Marie-Christine Lombard, from working at Geodis Wilson, claiming that it breaks the terms of her contract on competition.
