Amazon is now hosting so much data for clients in the cloud that it is literally having to truck it to data warehouses. When it transitions a new company, some have such a lot of backed-up information that it can literally take years to transfer it online. In response, Amazon has developed its Snowmobile vehicle, effectively a 45ft container that can hold up to 100 petabytes (The Loadstar is learning some new vocabulary here), which is the equivalent to 100 million gigabytes – described as a “gigantic USB stick”.
