‘Good luck diversifying from TSMC’
In a move of gamekeeper-turned-poacher, US shipper association Gemini Shippers Group has appointed veteran APL executive Joe Donlin as vice president of its southern region.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr Donlin joins Gemini after a 31-year career with APL, which is currently the subject of a takeover bid by CMA CGM.
His final role for APL was commercial head for APL’s Southern Region, managing a sales team covering 14 states with $900m annual revenues. Previous roles with the company included various sales and commercial management positions in the south-east and Midwest.
Prior he also worked at OOCL, Naverias De Puerto Rico and Seatrain Pacific.
Gemini Shippers Group chief executive Sara Mayes said: “With the appointment of Joe to the team, we are now able to embark on a path of significant growth in the South. With Joe‘s help we will look to continue to increase the membership of the association and be a valued partner to the ocean carrier community.”
The non-profit association signs global contracts with a variety of ocean carriers, managing the contracts on behalf of members, and often pooling members’ freight to negotiate better freight rates and space allocations.
