October 08, 2015 at 7:58 pmJust to clarify, Austin, Texas does have the ability to handle 747s, just not the need at this time. Austin’s airport is a former air force base where 747s have landed in the past going back to the mid 1980s (the runway is the same). Several cargo 747s have landed in recent years for the nearby Formula 1 race track at Circuit of the Americas.
