US Department of Defence awards airlift service contracts worth $545m

Earlier this month the US Department of Defense announced that it has awarded more than $545 million in charter airlift services contracts. Three teams, and six airlines have been awarded nine fixed-price contracts for international airlift services, according to US DoD documents, in a programme worth $441m. The three teams are: Federal Express Charter Programs Team Arrangement, Miami Air Team and Patriot team. The airlines include Hawaiian, Lynden Air Cargo, National Air Cargo, Southwest and Alaska. Another 20 companies have won an “exercising option” on contracts for domestic charter services, in a porgramme valued at $104m.
