UK and Ireland delivery group DX has appointed a veteran freight forwarder as its new chief executive.
Ian Truesdale will become CEO on July 1, replacing Paul Ibbetson, who has held the role for two and a half years.
DX is “embarking on its next phase of growth”, following its acquisition by HIG Capital in January 2024, and the consequent move from public to private company.
Mr Truesdale joins from Unipart Group, where he was MD Logistics and Consulting, and a main board director. Prior to Unipart, he was SVP operations for Kuehne + Nagel, and has also held senior positions at Ceva/TNT and DHL/Exel.
In partnership with HIG, DX is accelerating its growth plans with investment of more than £12m in a new regional hub in Derbyshire. It is also expanding its depot network and activities in Northern Ireland, with the acquisition of Express Freight. In April, it launched ‘DX SameDay’, a nationwide same-day courier service, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“DX is in a terrific position, and I am delighted to be leading the next phase of the group’s growth,” said Mr Truesdale. “We have a very supportive partner in HIG, and I am confident of the opportunities ahead of us.
“In its 50th anniversary year, DX continues to support all its customers’ needs with passion and commitment and is well-placed to extend its service offering and to scale significantly.”
DX was established in 1975, during the Royal Mail postal strikes of the 1970s, when it focused on moving legal documents via the Document Exchange (the DX) member network.
