Environment Committee (ENVI) members of the European Parliament voted to extend the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to all flights leaving European Economic Area airports and to international shipping, with a new ETS II for commercial transport.

Committee members voted overwhelmingly to extend the ETS to aviation, voting 66 to nine in favour, with 12 abstentions.
