Obama’s export initiative has begun to flatline, according to research from the Journal of Commerce. US exports grew by over 6% in 2011, but then marginally contracted last year. Here is a nicely done slideshow from the publication on the country’s largest maritime exporters, in terms of volume. It has waste paper exporters sitting in the top three positions, with number four taken by a scrap metal dealer – although it’s good to see Dow Chemical and Dupont also making the list.
