In this well-written and insightful article, The Economist argues that manufacturers won’t leave China to take advantage of cheaper labour costs elsewhere, or cheaper transport costs nearer to end markets. In fact, the large workforce, increased productivity, sophisticated supply chains and domestic market mean China will retain its position as the world’s manufacturer.
