The sheer scale of Amazon’s order of 100,000 electric delivery trucks from electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian – in which the etailer has a stake – has the potential to transform cities, argues this piece from Wired. Although Amazon has yet to disclose where the vehicles will be deployed – they are due to be delivered through to 2030 – the entrance of such a large number of units into any urban market will require commensurate investment in charging infrastructure, which should, in turn, provide the catalyst for a new era in electric vehicle investment.
