US retailers are fearful of a trade war with China. Donald Trump’s plan to put tariffs on $50bn-worth of Chinese imports is expected to hurt both US companies and consumers. The full list of products has not yet been published, but retailers are likening it to a tax on customers. And of course, there are concerns the other way around: smaller Chinese exporters fear it will remove their competitive edge, and they will have to look for new markets. MH&L reports.
