Speed reduction plan favours old, inefficient ships, says Maersk

Maersk looks set to continue its derision of French speed limit proposals, due to be announced at next week’s IMO Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) sessions. It has long been known that the Danish carrier resents the prospect of speed limits and its chief advisor for climate change, John Kornerup Bang – who will be present at the MEPC talks, is set to lay out its argument in full. In an interview with Splash 24/7, he claims speed reduction proposals delay the technological development needed to actually reduce emissions.
