The demand for smart containers is growing commensurately with their capabilities, but for some time their appearance has appeared to be more of a twinkle in a developer’s eye than actual reality. Well, the reality is now here, with Maersk’s installation of remote container devices across its entire fleet of 260,000-plus reefer boxes; while third-party providers are finding projects and clients beginning to line up.
