Port executives are pitching for cargo from or to Birmingham northwards that currently comes through southern ports. Liverpool is “smooth as silk”, said Atlantic Container Line chief executive Andrew Abbott, who added that the new terminal would reinforce the port’s position as the line’s UK hub.
