Universal Container Services (UCS) and Ocean Network Express (ONE) have opened their second jointly operated dedicated container centre in the port of Hamburg. The first opened in Rotterdam in 2019.
The 60,000 sq metre Hamburg facility has an onsite repair shop, with storage capacity of 4,000 teu, including 25 reefer plugs, as well as three reach stackers and three empty container handlers.
“The depot also has fully automated gates and real time EDI connections offering advanced security and efficiencies for customers,” said the companies.
Johan Pijpers of ONE (Europe), added: “Depot yard space in most European and African ports is being reduced and for that reason our strategy is to start long-term partnerships with our most-valued suppliers where we see opportunities.
