Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd is said to be bidding for Israeli carrier ZIM… but then again, we are in a world of “barriers to exit“ in the shipping industry – all the key players that remain in the field have some kind of political backing and acquiring them is difficult.
As a result, I think it is doubtful this reported deal will go ahead, given how politicised the world is.
That said, most cash-rich carriers are likely to express interest with a “me too“ ...
