DHL Express is making a creeping comeback to the US, after its disastrous attempt to break into the domestic market led to a humiliating retreat in 2008 and $10bn in costs. This time it is focusing on international markets into the US, which will see it double its sales force in the country over the next two years. Later this year it will open a new air hub in the midwest, and it is also investing in helicopters for morning deliveries in big cities such as New York and Los Angeles, fed from its aircraft.
