Notwithstanding that this is basically a software pitch from a well-respected Hamburg-based IT company, it is a further reminder that exporters to the EU must prepare to be classified for customs purposes as a “third country” on 1 January 2021.

The transport software specialist points out that companies that are only active in intra-community trade “need to prepare themselves as soon as possible” and allow two to three months for the introduction of customs processes.

    It is a sad state when some of the most useful information about future customs arrangements with the EU has to gleaned from a German software company rather than being offered by the British government.
