SALE

PRESS RELEASE

ABN AMRO is set to sell Maas Capital, an independent subsidiary of the bank, to investment vehicles managed by EnTrust Global. The portfolio consists of 15 controlling and non-controlling stakes in shipping, intermodal and offshore services related assets.

The sale accelerates the wind-down of the bank’s non-core activities, as announced in August 2020. ABN AMRO remains strongly committed as a debt financier for the European shipping sector. Going forward, ABN AMRO’s equity investment activities will focus on digitalisation, sustainability and other corporate investments.

The transaction, which is subject to the approval of the relevant stakeholders, will have a negligible impact on the bank’s profit and loss.

Maas Capital’s team of investment managers, as part of the Maas Capital platform will continue to manage the business and portfolio under the new structure. Closing of the transaction is envisaged to take place in Q3 2021 and is expected to have a limited net positive impact on capital ratios.
