It seems Shyp’s attempts at being an industry-wide disruptor have not worked out the way the “Uber of shipping” had planned. Launched in 2014, the start-up sought to offer a door-to-door delivery service that would cost customers just $5 per item, with collections made about 20 minutes after the order had been placed. Sadly, it seems a national roll-out across the US may not have been the best idea. Now Verge is reporting the company will be closing its operations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York in an attempt to try and achieve profitability in the single market of the San Francisco Bay area.
