Splash 24/7 reports that the first of Maersk’s 11-strong series of second-generation Triple-E vessels has been delivered by South Korea’s DSME shipyard. The Madrid Maersk also qualifies as the new world’s largest containership, registering at 20,568 teu capacity and overtaking the MOL Triumph, which was only delivered around a fortnight ago. The new series of triple-Es have 12% more capacity, despite being the same length and breadth, which has been achieved by using smaller engines and relocating the accommodation block.
