The 18,000 teu Benjamin Franklin, the largest containership to call at US ports, has been moved back to plying the Asia-Europe lane, less than five months after starting the TransPac service. Operator CMA CGM, which had pledged to put another five large vessels on the Pearl River Express route, was forced to change tactics as freight rates sank to record lows. The ship has been replaced by Leo, which can carry about 11.400 teu. The WSJ has the story.
